Chandigarh Announces Six New Containment Zones, But No Night Curfew

Have you people heard that Chandigarh is not in favor of imposing a night curfew? Yes, it is true. But Chandigarh has recently announced six new containment zones as some patients have been traced corona positive in those zones. On the other hand, the Punjab government has announced the extension of night curfew by 2 hours in nine districts. But how did the Chandigarh administration take the decision? A review meeting was arranged where UP administrator VP Singh Badnore was present. He gave his opinion that tests like RT-PCR must now be encouraged more. He added many other pieces of advice, suggestions, directions as well. This blog will give detailed information about the same:

1. UP administrator Advises hospital authorities

When patients visit the hospital for OPD consultation, they must undergo covid tests. They can avail of government or private facilities for such tests. He advised hospital authorities to maintain this rule. It will help not allow the covid virus to spread in hospital premises. Other patients and health workers will remain safe.

2. Decision about not imposing night curfew in Chandigarh anymore

Such a decision has been taken following the rules made by the central government under ‘Unlock 4’.

The Chandigarh administration declared on 28th August that the markets of Chandigarh will not remain closed on the weekend from now onwards.

On Monday, they have decided that there will be no longer night curfew in Chandigarh. In the meeting, all the discussion was made in the presence of VP Singh Badnore, Administrator of Union Territory of Chandigarh.

From now no local lockdown will be imposed outside the containment zone of Covid 19 in Chandigarh. If any such need arises, the state government and Union territory have to discuss with the center first for imposing lockdown in such areas.

3. Other measures

1. Badnore has directed that people who have been detected covid positive and are in home isolation, must be under regular checkups. If any deterioration or aggravation in the health condition can be noticed, they should immediately be admitted to hospitals.

2. The administrators have ordered the doctors to take special health care of patients having covid 19 symptoms. And their main focus must be on covid 19 patients.

3. The administrator told the municipal corporation commissioner to look after the sanitization of the city seriously. The commissioner has to make sure that no problem is there in the city regarding sanitization.

4. He even directed the police to charge fines for those who will be found without wearing masks in crowded places. Even in the markets, people must wear masks, otherwise will be charged by police.

5. The administrator directed the shopkeepers to make covid tests of their workers. And all their shops must have a display board declaring the shop owners and staff are free from coronavirus.

6. To assure social distancing in hotels, the administrator appealed to restaurant owners to reduce the number of tables. So those can be placed maintaining sufficient spaces.

Manoj Parida, UT advisor informed that the administration seriously looked after the situation for so many months regularly. They were always in contact with health experts. After so much effort now they think there is no more requirement of a night curfew in Chandigarh.
