The famous Indian star pacer Mohammad Shami is set to be honoured with the prestigious Arjuna Award in January 2024. Award Arjuna is the second-highest sporting award in India, which honours talented players and athletes because of their dedication, skills, and sportsmanship.

Mohammad Shami is the only cricketer out of 26 athletes who will be honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2024. He was a brilliant player throughout the year and proved his cricket skills in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The right arm quickly finished making the match as the leading wicket-taker and took 24 wickets from 7 matches only. It results in an incredible 10.70 average with 3-5 wickets hauls. Overall, Mohammad achieved 43 wickets in a total of 19 ODIs and got 13 wickets from 4 cricket World Cup tests this year.

When the Arjuna Award was organized

Shami, along with 25 other top athletes from diverse sports activities, will acquire the respect of the President of India on January 9, 2024, on the Rashtrapati Bhavan. It is India’s 2nd-highest carrying honour and is given for excellent overall performance in Sports and Games.
