Nitin Yadav to be new Chandigarh Home Secretary

Nitin Kumar Yadav, an IAS officer from the Haryana cadre who graduated from the 2000 batch, will be the new Home Secretary of Chandigarh.

For three years or until further orders, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved a proposal by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for the inter-cadre deputation of Nitin Kumar Yadav Haryana cadre to the AGMUT cadre (Chandigarh segment), which will be effective immediately. The position is reserved for an IAS officer from the Haryana cadre.

UT Principal Secretary (Home) Arun Kumar Gupta was dismissed from his duties on August 31 following an inter-cadre deputation. The officer’s three-year deputation contract had ended in May. Still, due to an increase in Covid-19 pandemic cases, the UT Administration had requested that Gupta, a Haryana cadre IAS officer from the 1992 batch, remain in service for an additional three months.
