Chandigarh Gets Its First Air Purification Tower At Transport Chowk

In celebration of the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies, Chandigarh adviser Dharam Pal unveiled the tower for air purification at the crowded transit chowk, which stands 24 meters tall.

It was on Tuesday that the largest air purification tower ever built in India went into service at Transport Chowk in Sector 26.On the second International Clean Air Day for Blue Skies, UT advisor Dharam Pal was inaugurated from a height of 24 meters, marking the occasion.

Pious Air Private Limited provided the purifier at no cost to the Chandigarh administration, and it was installed by them. According to a UT official, the firm will also manage and operate for a period of five years. “This is the highest Indian air purifier, and it covers a radius of around 500 meters around Chowk Transportation,” said one of the speakers in attendance.

The government views it as a pilot program that will be tested further. Originally, five places were considered for the system’s construction. Still, the Transport Chowk was chosen because it has the greatest amount of traffic and, thus, the greatest amount of car emissions, according to an official.
