Early on Tuesday morning, photos of the stranded workers in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand’s Silkyara tunnel started making the rounds online. This follows a major breakthrough by rescuers, who pushed a six-inch-wide conduit through the rubble of the collapsed tunnel, delivering further food and live video of the forty-one workers.

The video streamed live footage of the rescue workers as they began day ten of their mission on Tuesday. The pictures were captured using an endoscopic camera.

This afternoon, rescue personnel will presumably begin vertical drilling in an attempt to save the lives of these people. Reports in India Today indicate that around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, the Silkyara end is supposed to start vertical drilling.

The stranded workers finally received their first hot Khichdi on Monday, the ninth day of rescue attempts.

Up till now, on the Char Dham path in Uttarakhand, oxygen and supplies like dry food and pharmaceuticals have been transported via a four-inch existing tube to the segment of the tunnel beyond the rubble of the collapsed section of the under-construction Silkyara tunnel.

In order to aid rescue operations, the IAF has begun delivering heavy equipment to the tunnel site. The rescue operations in Uttarkashi continue to get backup from the Indian Air Force (IAF). The 36 metric tons of critical equipment were transferred today by the IAF utilizing a C-17 and two C-130 J aircraft. This #HADROps will continue till all equipment is provided, the Indian Air Force declared on X.

The government officially announced on Monday that rescue attempts are underway to liberate the trapped workers.

The government is making every effort to keep the workers’ spirits up and keep them apprised of their dedication to save their lives while they are stuck in the high-altitude, 2-kilometer-long stretch of the tunnel.  The 2-kilometer portion of tunnel that guarantees worker safety has been concreted, according to a press release from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.

The 4-inch compressor pipeline transports workers’ food, medicine, and other necessities to this part of the tunnel, which also provides access to water and power. In order to provide food, medicine, and other essentials, NHIDCL completed the digging of a 6-inch-diameter pipeline today, marking a major milestone. Additionally, the business said that RVNL is now working on a new vertical pipeline to transport essential supplies.

On Monday, Uttarakhand’s chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that measures are being taken to guarantee the safe evacuation of all personnel.

As part of the ongoing rescue operation to free workers from the Silkyara, Uttarkashi, tunnel that is still under construction, a six-inch-diameter pipeline was successfully laid over the debris. He said on X (formerly Twitter) that this would facilitate the delivery of food, medicine, and other necessities to employees on an as-needed basis.

Teams of rescue workers from the state government, SDRF, and the federal government are hard at work. In order to guarantee the safe evacuation of all personnel, we are making further efforts,” the post said.
