The uttarkashi under-construction tunnel are collapsed on 14 November, the rescuers started inserting large mild steel pipes in rubble. According to officials, they used the auger machine for 40 workers trapped in rubble for 2 days. The large pipes will pushed into it by using drilling tools to create an escape passage for workers. Officials have said that part of the tunnel is built between the Dandalgaon and Silkyara on the Yamunotri- brahmachari national highway that caved in Sunday morning, followed by a landslide.
The officials also said that the auger machines, MS pipes were come at spot in early hours of Tuesday. With these, the location is fulfilled with the driller, auger machine, and 900 mm long MS pipes, the reports come.
Rescue operation for trapped labourers
The rescue team made contact with the trapped laborers, and several agencies carried out a rescue operation to rescue the laborers from the rubble, said NHIDCL Executive Director Col Sudip Sudra. The Chief medical officer of Uttarkashi, RCS Panwar, said that six temporary bed hospitals are set up near the tunnel, and 10 ambulances with medical teams arrive to give immediate medical care to trapper laborers after they rescue
As per the list of laborers issued by the district emergency operation center, the 8 laborers are from Uttar Pradesh, 15 are from Jharkhand, 4 are from Bihar, 5 are from Orissa. Moreover, it is also come to know that 2 workers are from assam, 2 from uttarakhand, 3 are from West Bengal, , 1 is from Himachal Pradesh who are trapped
