The Wildlife and forest department of Union Territory rejects the proposal of the railway’s station development authority. They denied to cut down the 1,300 trees that are located on railway land under part of the redevelopment project of Chandigarh Railway Station.
According to officials, there are over 1000 trees situated on the Panchkula side that are the exit of exit, with the remaining being situated on the Chandigarh side.
The authority of rail land sends an environmental management plan to Indian Railway authorities and takes the permission to cut trees, but the forest department of Chandigarh returns to plea and asks to apply again after authorities approve the environment management plan.
Why does the railway land authority not chop trees
The land on which the forest redevelopment work occurs belongs to Ambala railway station. The rail land authority got the time limits permission to cut down the trees; most of the eucalyptus from the department existed in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
However, despite having received the nod then, the RLDA never proceeded to chop any of the trees in question in any of the three years. The officials also said that more than 1000 trees are situated on the Panchkula side exits of a railway station, whereas the rest tree situated on the Chandigarh side.
