Cooking with brass utensils has been a practice since the olden days. Before adopting stainless steel utensils, people used to have different brass cookware utensils at home for everyday use.
Brass utensils are one of the most sustainable products in kitchenware. Consuming meals prepared in brass cookware builds immunity, sharpens memory, soothes skin disorders, and purifies the blood in the long run. It heals the body from within and solves respiratory issues as well.
Brass or “Pittal” is an antibacterial alloy made with 70% copper & 30% zinc.
According to Ayurveda, brass utensils pacify the effect of imbalanced Pitta dosha causing indigestion, and aggression. In Charak Samhita, it has been mentioned that brass is used to create many treatment tools and used in bhasma (ash form treatments).
When using tinnerbrass cookware, you can use it for multiple purposes as mentioned below.
- It can store milk and ghee. Lactic acid present in milk doesn’t react with tinned brass vessels but would not be okay to keep in uncoated or untinned brass cookware and can turn sour.
- You can store cut fruits & vegetables in tinned brass utensils.
- Make sure you get the daily brass cookware tinned every six to eight months. Since the tinning can melt and needs to be checked in a few months.
